Learning Life Through Sport is a program designed to challenge social norms and inspire young people and their communities to bring a new standard of behaviour and respect to sport and life.
On Tuesday 21 March, SANFL Juniors is presenting a Learning Life Through Sport session at Norwood Football Club, from 6pm to 7.30pm for Moddies and 7.45pm to 9pm for Juniors. Registrations are welcomed. Click here to register.
Mount Lofty Football Club has sent the information to all Junior and Moddies coaches and encouraged some reps from the club to attend.
Learning Life Through Sport identifies positive ways to alter the inherited and often unacceptable behaviour of coaches, players, parents and supporters in junior sports. These behaviours include umpire dissent and abuse (bullying), bad sportsmanship and a lack of respect for sporting codes and participants of sport.
As we enter the 2023 season, I am pleased to inform that our player registrations are significantly higher than the same time last year. We have 20 teams registered across HFL and SANFL competitions with great numbers attending pre-season trainings. Our first home game for our Juniors and Senior Men is versus Blackwood on April 1. I would encourage you to get along and support the club.
These strong player numbers have been built off our successful Auskick program. To continue this trajectory, we are recruiting for our 2023 AusKick coordinator. As our community sporting club is underpinned by great people giving up their time to ensure our kids have a great experience, I would ask for your consideration to take on this vital role.
Auskick is designed for kids 5 to 12 with participants encouraged to have fun and make new friends whilst developing basic football skills. The Auskick coordinator is integral to creating a wonderful Auskick experience for all participants, volunteers and parent/guardians and is crucial to positively contributing to the wider community. It is also the feeder to our Modified program and as such underpins the future of the club.
We have a wealth of support for the successful candidate including:
Leith Dawes – Coaching support and mentoring. leithdawes@adam.com.au. Leith in 2021 was the SA recipient of the AFL Junior Coach of the year award. As an Under 10 coach himself in 2023 and a previous Auskick coordinator, he has a wealth of knowledge for the successful candidate.
Gavin Klose – Junior Football Coaching Coordinator. jcc@mtloftydevils.com.au. An experienced coach at modified and junior level at MLDFC.
