Lofty Legends Group

“Supporting a confident future built from a rich heritage.”

The Mount Lofty District Football Club was formed in 1978 through the amalgamation of neighbouring clubs, Heathfield Aldgate United and Stirling. Throughout many decades prior to that, there had been several clubs in the area which had ceased to exist or had amalgamated – Aldgate, Crafers, Heathfield and Upper Sturt.

It is against this background that The Lofty Legends Group was formed in 2014 to continue the history of the clubs, the people who have gone before and all who had contributed to the development and success of the Mt Lofty District Football Club as it stands today.

Reunion Day

On every last home game of every season the Lofty Legends Group invite all past players, supporters and volunteers to pass through the doorway of the clubrooms and allow the memories of good times to come flooding back. We host a reunion of past decades based on the last digit of that year (ie., a reunion of the 5’s Premierships was held in 2025). Our main aim as the Lofty Legends Group, is to encourage those involved over the years to visit the club and reconnect with old friends, tell legendary tales of the past whilst watching our juniors and senior players on game day and bridge the past with the present to help build the future. Email legends@mtloftydevils.com.au to stay in the know of reunion day communications.

Lofty Legend Awards

Lofty Legend Group Senior Milestone Award:

The Lofty Legends Group endeavours to celebrate all senior player milestone games with an award at Senior Presentation night. One of our Legends is honoured to present this award to those players for the current playing year.

Lofty Legend Group Junior Award: We also endeavour to recognise the MLDFC “One Club – ALL IN” culture. Selected by the teams coaching group, it is presented to a junior player who epitomises the Lofty Legends and the MLDFC Community. Someone who is dedicated to the team and is committed to their own improvement and that of their team and club. They are also persistent and determined and treat everybody with respect, including their opponent, whilst respecting all aspects of the club.

Around the Club

At the Mt Lofty District Football Club, we believe everyone will always have the ability to continue to contribute towards their legacy at the club, no matter how often they visit. The cohesive teamwork that has evolved through the Mt Lofty District Community Sports Club (SCS) and the MLDFC as a user group, brings new ideas and changes to the ground that you can contribute to for today and into the future. How good is it to proudly say to your grandkids that you “were a part of that happening” at the club. Email legends@mtloftydevils.com.au to find out how you can become involved.

Lofty Legends would like to invite all past players, volunteers and supporters to receive monthly updates via legends@mtloftydevils.com.au
