Congratulations to this champion of the club, with past Premierships under his belt, an inspirational footballer, and an amazing mentor to our incoming players this year. We are very excited to be able to watch Mark “Buckets” Nielsen play his 200th A Grade game for the Devils this Saturday at Arkaba Oval against Hahndorf.
Having played almost all of his football for the Candy Stripes since he was just a wee tacker, Buckets really does bleed the red & white. His only stint away from the club was a few seasons down the hill playing for the Doublas at Sturt, before returning home in 2013. Since then, Buckets has dominated the backlines with his more than sound football knowledge and, arguably, the safest hands in the league.
Watching Buckets develop from a young Devil into the outstanding footballer and mentor that he is, it’s has been an absolute pleasure and honour. We are really looking forward to this weekends match and seeing what it will deliver.
The Devils are very excited to be back out playing footy this weekend and after all of the changing of restrictions over the last few weeks, we are also very excited to be able to have everybody back out to watch us doing it from Friday night.
Please remember a few things when you head to either Arkaba Oval, or any other oval to cheer us on:
Sports clubs will be able to resume competition and sport events can go ahead up to 1000 people
People must wear masks
Seated consumption for food and drinks – both indoor and outdoorÂ
Remember to sign in on entry with the QR code check in or sign in sheet
The Mt Lofty Devils would like to send out a huge congratulations to Mt Lofty past player, Zoe Prowse, who tonight was picked up in the ALFW draft at pick 17 for her home club – the Crows.
Zoe escalated her football career as a junior footballer playing at senior level playing in Division 2 in the Adelaide football League for Mt Lofty Football Club in 2019, making the ADFL team of the year that year. Since then, Zoe has been playing for Sturt FC, State footy and development squad football, before being drafted tonight.
This year we were sad to lose Zoe and her sister to play with her school friends after SANFL football ended, to play in the HFL season with Onkas. However during our recent match out at Balhannah, it was a lot of fun trying to match her in the ruck and it was great to have a few laughs afterwards with Zoe and her sister Arabella.
We are so excited to see our first ever female player to have come from the Devils made their way into the AFLW. We congratulate Zoe and wish her all the best going forward! Give ’em Hell Zo!
From our records, Zoe will make the just fourth footballer to have to have come from either Mt Lofty Devils or our Heritage Clubs to play in the VFL/AFL.
If you think you know of others please get in contact with us.
Robbert Klomp – A Senior Colts Mail Medalist for HAU, a 2x Sturt Premiership Player and 2x Carlton VFL Premiership Player in ’79 & ’80
David Welsby – A past VFL player for Geelong from 1990 and junior player of Mt Lofty
Troy Broadbridge – A past AFL player for Melbourne from 2002
Congratulations again Zoe on becoming our first female to have started at the Devils to join these amazing blokes in being drafted.
To all members, coaches, players, parents and care givers:
The Mount Lofty Football Club would like to notify all those above that as of midnight tonight [27.7.21], ALL TRAININGS Including Thursday Night Meals will be back on at the club as per the original team training schedule.
Return to play will commence the week after [Friday night] 6th August.
We thank you for your patience and understanding and we look forward to seeing you all out playing and supporting Mt Lofty in the weeks ahead.
The club has put in a formal request to the HFL to have any games missed [juniors, women and men] played at the grounds they were originally scheduled at to allow the teams to play those games. We are waiting on their instruction.
We are also waiting on a directive from the SANFL on how they propose to handle the missed games.
Our current 1 person / 4m2 allows us to have 78 people in the club rooms at any given time. We will work through the current restrictions and what it means for the club, but would appreciate all of your help and understanding around the directions given by SA Health moving forward. We must remain compliant at ALL times and your help in achieving this is very important to the club and all of its members.

Congratulations to our own Harry Weeks, who after making his mark at the Devs and in the Inter-league competition in June, has been picked to play in the Eastern Zone Country Championships this Saturday!
The Hills Football League will join together with the Riverland Football League and the Mallee Football League to play in a modified Round Robin Competition that consists of 6 country zones incorporating 23 leagues down at Encounter Bay.
A great reward for all of your hard work Weeksy, and a well deserved pick in the team from our perspective 👹
