It’s the inaugural Mt Lofty V Mt Barker Cup this Saturday at Heathfield Oval! This historic A Grade clash marks the beginning of a new rivalry, proudly supported by the Arkaba Hotel and the Barker Hotel. Be there for the bounce at 2.30pm.
If you’re free, arrive at 8.45am when the footy action kicks off with our U14s and stick around for some great games throughout the day. Then come back on Sunday, when our U14 Girls (who have been moved to Div 3) will take on Modbury at home at 11.40, then both our Senior Women and C Grade are also playing at home, taking on Maccy at 1.30pm and 3pm respectively.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, our U12 Girls take on Walkerville away at 11.10am, and our U17 Girls take on Hahndorf away at 12pm.
GUTTSA’s new House Gutter Relining Kits are a simple DIY process for the home handyperson. Flexible and user-friendly it can easily be moulded to suit any gutter!
Our A Grade men are sitting top of the table after round 5, following a good win over Hahndorf. Our Devils were also too strong for the opposition across B Grade, C Grade, 18s and 16s, while our Senior Women dominated Birdwood on Saturday night.
MLDFC usual home game Life Member coin toss took a different slant for Round 5, so we could take time to acknowledge and celebrate the inauguration of the scoreboard this season as well as express our deep appreciation and respect to all major contributors and their generosity that have made this scoreboard possible.
There have been numerous examples of club spirit that have occurred to realise the commissioning of the scoreboard and whilst there has been an inauguration ceremony last month, we wish to honour publicly all who were unavailable to make the unveiling and ceremony.
Some were unavailable to join us on that day and we have invited one of the families that made a personal significant contribution to do the coin toss this week.
Present from the De Roos family we have Glenda, Son Simon and Daughter Nikki, Simon’s wife Emma, and Glenda and Herman’s grandchildren Isaac, Stella, Hanna and her partner Tyler.
We also pay our greatest respect and best wishes to Lofty Club Legend Herman whose playing career and then committee involvement is well documented in the club’s history, who couldn’t be there for the day.
Glenda, Herman’s wife, has a long-documented history of involvement in the Club. Nikki their daughter is now our Head Trainer and this year put her hand up to take over from Haydn as convener of the Lofty Legends Group, working to build the groups dynamics.
Hanna, Tyler and Hanna’s sister Emily (not present) also being involved in 2024 in bar duties. What a long history!
MLDFC wish to express our most sincere gratitude to the De Roos family and all of the major contributors to the amazing new scoreboard that all of our members can enjoy.
