What a great day out for Sam Miles at Lobethal for his 150 club A Grade games (*304 senior career games) We were ‘lucky’ to have him in the team on the day with wife Charlie 4 days past due date with their second child.
We hope you enjoyed the day and the win Sam, wishing Charlie and yourself all the best for a hopefully soon new family brother for William.
We have some old archived photos of Sam to enjoy along with some from today to embrace his achievements at the link below.
Congratulations to Neve Faber and Marley O’Connor who have been selected to play in the 12 year old and under State teams to compete at the School Sport Australia Championships.
These little Devils will be heading off to Geelong in August.
Congratulations to Sam Miles, who played in his 150th Club A Grade match last weekend out at Lobethal. An achievement only surpassed by the HUGE milestone that Sam has also notched up 300 Senior career games.
Having started as a wee tacker at the Devils, Sam quickly found his way down the hill playing for Sturt Football Club for the U17’s in 2004 right through to playing 113 senior games in both League and Reserves, before returning to the Devs.
After trying his hand at coaching some Interleague matches for the HFL, Sam headed over to neighbouring club Bridgewater Callington Raiders in 2021 as a player coach to continue developing his leadership skills, at which he continued his personal playing tally a further 33 games.
Add in another 2 Interleague matches and 3 country championships, along with one solitary early Mt Lofty B Grade game and Saturday’s big game out at Lobethal, Sam is sitting on 304 senior career games! WOW!
Returning home to the Devils in 2023, Sam brought back with him the sleek skills, deep football knowledge and mentoring capabilities we all thrive on. Never leaving anything left in the tank on the field and always working hard to get his body right for the next match, it’s great to have Sam back for our young team to look up to.
