VALE LORRAINE PAWLAK (NEE HAMPTON)

VALE LORRAINE PAWLAK (NEE HAMPTON)

It is with much sadness that we advise the passing of one of the club and local community’s most dedicated members, Lorraine Pawlak, nee Hampton.

Sadly, Lorraine passed away on Saturday 4 December after various health issues suffered over a period of years. In her typical no-nonsense approach to life, her family and friends were extremely shocked by a deterioration in her health in the few weeks prior. (Refer below for Memorial Service details).

A resident of Heathfield for most of her life and made a Life Member of the Mt Lofty District Football Club in 2004, Lorraine was a member of the Hampton family, which is so prominent in the history of the Stirling, Heathfield, Heathfield Aldgate United and Mt Lofty Football Clubs going back many decades. Lorraine gave so much, never attracting attention in any way, just doing things quietly and efficiently which she knew needed to be done. The Football Clubs were so fortunate in so many areas with her being a very active member of the Junior Committee when her sons Glen and Jason played in the junior grades, going on to be involved for decades in so many roles including Canteen Manager, Catering Manager and a myriad of other tasks. When the club was having difficulty in recent years with obtaining stock for the canteen, BBQ and kitchen Lorraine again came to the fore and continued up until 2020 even during periods of ill health.

Lorraine’s life away from football was also typified by her giving nature, taking care of people less privileged to the general community. A proud Parent and Grandparent who loved looking after her grandchildren, Lorraine also dedicated herself, together with her sisters and brother and families, to the care of her parent’s Jack and Joyce Hampton who themselves also gave so much to the clubs.

The Lofty Legends Group and the Mt Lofty District Football Club offer our sincere condolences to Jack and Joyce, as well as Glen and Jason and their families and to Margaret, Kevin, Robyn and Sharyn and their families. So sad to lose such a beautiful person and as one former Heathfield Aldgate United Life Member put it “An Angel is created.”

Lorraine won the Club Person of the Year award and was also appointed as a Life Member in 2004.

Here she is pictured below with her nephew Josh Healey (now a senior player) on the occasion of him winning the Junior Club Person of the Year in 2007.

A huge family contribution – father Jack won a Club Person award with Heathfield Aldgate United and was also an HAU Life Member and Nephew Joel also won a Club Person of the Year with Mt Lofty.

Memorial Service – details from today’s Courier:

“A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 16 at 2 p.m. at the Mt Lofty Clubrooms (Longwood Road, Heathfield), Afternoon tea and a drink to celebrate Lorraine’s life. Because of COVID-19 restrictions please RSVP to Kevin Hampton on 0407 616 632 or Sharyn Healey 0407 474 934.”

COVID has certainly led to great pressures on the community and with Lorraine’s parents and several friends being quite elderly with health issues, regrettably, the family respectfully ask that people attending have proof of double vaccination available please.

Sadly due to Covid restrictions, limitations on event numbers are in place too. RSVP’s are essentials please, and the family ask that only immediate family children attend.

REUNION ROUND 2022 | ‘1 & ‘2 YEARS

REUNION ROUND 2022 | ‘1 & ‘2 YEARS

A message for all of our past Devils and Heritage Club people.

The reunion which was to take place on Saturday 24 July and was cancelled due to the COVID Lock Down will be deferred to next season.

We will celebrate it as the “One Two” reunion recognising seasons ending in 1 and 2 and will be aiming to hold it in the second home game, which would be late April or early May 2022.

There is still plenty of excitement left in this season with the HFL men’s and boy’s still in the race for finals and the HFL Women’s A Grade having won their way into the Grand Final with the Under 17 Girls playing in the Preliminary Final this Sunday. The Chairman’s Lunch tomorrow will also be another highlight as the men take on Uraidla in a must win match.

Season 2022 is looking very exciting with the expected opening of the $1.7M upgrade of the change rooms and the continuing development of teams across the club, particularly the young A Grade Men’s team.

We recently took copies of photographs from a wonderful album of HAU and Mt Lofty which was put together by Glenda DeRoos. We sincerely thank Glenda and past champion Herman for allowing us to share some terrific photos. The photo below is quite amazing in showing some of the people from the heritage clubs who came together so successfully to form Mt Lofty. Left to right, Lyn Evans (Stirling, Heathfield Aldgate United and Mt Lofty), Frank Clements (Aldgate, Heathfield Aldgate United and Mt Lofty), Bryan Moulds (Stirling and Mt Lofty), Herman DeRoos (Aldgate, Stirling, Heathfield Aldgate United and Mt Lofty)

We trust that everybody is going well in these testing times.

2021 Annual Reunion Day

2021 Annual Reunion Day

Join in the celebrations of club milestones on Saturday 24 July 2021 from 1pm at Mt Lofty Clubrooms, Arkaba Oval, Heathfield.

Celebrating premierships for 1921 Stirling A Grade (100 years ago!), 1961 Heathfield Senior Colts, 1971 Heathfield Aldgate United A Grade, Senior Colts, Junior Colts and Mini Colts and the 1981 Mt Lofty A Grade (in SAFA and the first senior club premiership).

1961,71,81 were very important premiership milestones in our club history. Firsts for Heathfield, the start of HAU’s A Grade 87-game winning streak (a record held for over 40 years and only recently beaten) and 1981 was another first with the Mt Lofty A Grade Premiership.

SANFLW PREMIERSHIP

SANFLW PREMIERSHIP

Lucy Earl, daughter of Dennis Earl was a member of the Glenelg SANFLW team which defeated West Adelaide in last Saturday’s Grand Final to win their first Premiership.

Lucy, 23, 178 centimetres and playing in defence, has played 32 games and was named in Glenelg’s Best Players in their 5.10.40 – 2.5.17 victory.  Lucy also gained the accolade of ranking equal 4th in Glenelg’s B&F count this year.

Encounter Bay was Lucy’s first club and later she played in a Premiership side with Christies Beach before joining Glenelg in 2020. While we would love to have seen her in the Red and White, it was terrific to see her competing against our Allani Dawes playing for Sturt on Adelaide Oval during the season.

We wish to congratulate Lucy and her family who have been amazing players, officials and supporters of Mt Lofty and Heritage Clubs, Aldgate and Heathfield Aldgate United. Brothers Dennis and Barry played in many Premierships for HAU and Mt Lofty, with Dennis going on to be President of the club. Grandfather Garry played for Aldgate and was an incredibly dedicated volunteer for HAU and Mt Lofty for decades while Grandmother, Bev also gave dedicated service over decades.
