2024 Frank Clements Club Person of The Year

2024 Frank Clements Club Person of The Year

Congratulations to the 2024 Club Person of the Year – Jason Whitwell
Presented at Senior Presentation Night Friday 27 September at the Arkaba Hotel by Lyn Clements.

The Club Person of the Year was first awarded in the 1990’s, and following the sad passing of Mt Lofty and Heathfield Aldgate United Life Member Frank Clements in 2011, was renamed in Frank’s honour in 2012.

Frank was a passionate football and club person who went to great lengths to build successful teams, instilling a very determined approach to achieve success through players, coaches and team officials who would do almost anything for each other.

Frank was one of the architects of the Heathfield Aldgate United Club as a player and official with Aldgate.

Incredible success followed the formation of HAU where a total of 30 Premierships in the short 13 years of the club were won and an Australian Record of 87 A Grade wins without loss existed for 45 seasons.

The formation of the Mt Lofty District Football Club with the amalgamation of Heathfield Aldgate United and Stirling was largely the idea of Frank to provide Hills Footballers with the opportunity to compete at a higher level in the then South Australian Football Association.

Well over 30 years of outstanding service saw Frank carry out so many roles at Aldgate, Heathfield Aldgate United and Mt Lofty from player, coach, to committee as largely what we would now call the Football Director and also as President.

The Club Committee selects the award recipient, recognising a respected club volunteer who they consider has provided outstanding service to the club, making a significant contribution through not only their hard work and dedication, but also in their ability to work with people throughout the club.

In essence:

Mt Lofty Districts Football Club wish to show appreciation for the time and efforts donated in helping with the male, female and sub-junior areas of the club for the 2024 football season. Their support is an epitome of the Devils community club spirit, and β€˜One Club – All In’ ethos.

The winner this year, as voted by our committee, is a treasured Club Person and trusted member of the Devils.

Having been around the Devils for a many of years, volunteering in a number of roles, this treasured club member has devoted many hours, week in and week out over many years across the club.

This club legend has devoted yet another year to their beloved Devils, delivering on all fronts. They are there every Saturday from dawn till dusk – literally, fulfilling more roles than you can imagine on the day including set up and pack on home games, call upon person on the day, trainer for B Grade and U18s and fill in trainer for many other grades.

Putting their hand up to help out on any game when needed whilst also being on call for club emergenies, this champion is one of the the first to take the lead when something needs done.

From changing gas bottles over at 7am and again at 6pm to delivering marquees to other Ovals for Grand Final for the Club. Being a trainer to game day set up then pack up.

Congratulations to the 2024 Frank Clements Club Person of the Year: Jason Whitwell.
