Round 5 saw two more debutants for the Devils A Grade at Arkaba Oval when we fronted up against Mt Barker.
The boys were presented their guernseys before the match by past Premiership player, 300+ gamer (still playing in the magoos) and club champion Michael ‘Nipple’ Stapleton.
Welcome to Devils AGrade: #3 Thomas ‘TK’ Karlovassitis #4 Charlie ‘Chips’ Fryer
Charlie’s parents Caroline and Peter Fryer were able to join us for the special occasion, along with Nipple’s boys Riley and Rufus.
Thanks to Deb Stapleton for sending in this photo of FOUR of her grandsons playing together in the U8’s Mt Lofty Green team on Saturday morning 👹❤️
Herbert Stapleton, Elliot Stapleton, Conor Burch and James Stapleton, cousins like brothers in arms at Arkaba oval. Herbie’s cousin Hamish Booth also playing in the same team, but we are told he was too busy warming up in prep for the game for the photo.
Deb & Des Stapleton have 15 Grandchildren, 12 boys and 3 girls. A few are a bit too small to be little sports stars just yet, but watch out.. these 4 are not the only ones you will see running around the footy oval. Their fathers prestigious records on our walls could well be in danger!
We would like to introduce the new home game coin toss coin for the mens A Grade matches.
These coins are custom designed, and to be retained by the coin flipper, with their name engraved on it. Each home game we will invite a past player/member from our club(s) to decide which way the teams will be kicking.
The inaugural new coin was flipped by none other than the legendary club man – John Coventry.
The time has come Devs fans!! The keys to our new change rooms are officially in our hands 🥳
An inspirational idea that started hours upon hours of chats and grant negotiations undertaken by our previous President Kym Welsby.
Kym, along with Ian Deans and John Coventry managed to secure a number of grants and get planning for our beautiful new change rooms, before Kym passed the project onto his successor Scott Taylor. We cannot thank these guys enough for all of the work they have put into getting us here.
This project has been a huge undertaking for the Sports and Social Club, the Mt Lofty Football Club and the Mt Lofty Cricket Club, in conjunction with the Adelaide Hills Council, and we are SO EXCITED to be honoured to now have what we think is one of the best facilities in the state for community sports.
This facility has enough space for multiple teams to be using the rooms at one time, with disability, diversity and inclusion all taken into account. The upstairs rooms can also be converted into a function room if required. What a superb outcome for the community!
Thank you to everyone involved, get up to the game tomorrow and check it out for yourself 👹
